The IOP is almost here! A look at the 72-hour ROMS model forecast from the Southern California Coastal Ocean Observing System (http://www.sccoos.org/data/roms-3km/) shows an interesting relaxation event that is headed towards Pt. Sal.

Shipboard surveys don’t start till September 5, so we likely will miss this one. But, the climatology of relaxation events (Melton et al., 2009) suggests more events are coming!
